We
created an animated video for "Fialový samet", the solo project of
Madhouse Express frontman Maxmilián Hruška. Sonja Kröhn (La Petite Sonja)
designed, directed, art directed and filmed the entire piece in the modest
conditions of a home office over several months. Sonja was inspired by the
psychedelic patterns of the 60s, to which she created an old-school stop-motion
alternative using marshmallows, lollipops, sweets, flowers and feathers. The
main character is an animated marshmallow, a bit of a dancer, a bit of a lion
tamer, a bit of a dreamer who permeates Maximilian's hypnagogic hallucination.
Maxmilián has supplemented the video with real night lights that flash on the
ceiling of his bedroom at night, so that the viewer becomes part of his
daydream. The enchanting song "The Ceiling" takes us into a fabulously
bizarre world between dream and alternate reality.
